Timmons makes a statement but is the NFL next up?
Whether he realizes it or not, Florida State linebacker Lawrence Timmons has become a master of the understatement. In the last four games, he's recorded 36 tackles, nine for loss, an interception and three pass breakups.
His 22-yard interception return for a touchdown Saturday killed Western Michigan's third-quarter momentum. His numbers were NFL-worthy.
"I think I've just had a decent season so far," Timmons said Saturday.
His "decent" season, and his numbers against the Broncos, made the difference defensively in Florida State's 28-20 win over Western Michigan.
The interception was the biggest play of them all. The Seminoles were clinging to a 14-13 lead, and kicker Gary Cismesia had just missed a 41-yard field goal that would have given FSU breathing room. The Broncos had the ball on their own 22 with a newfound sense of hope.
