Warchant TV: Andrews Talks Retirement

TRANSCRIPT:

"This is something that we thought about a lot last year. We said that we were going to come back for one more year. There has been a lot of speculation and every time I turn around, somebody wants to know what's going to happen. And talking with coach Bowden, it felt like it was time to go ahead and do it. It's just something, as much as I love Florida State and a lot of these guys back here - time has just got so important for me now and I can't coach football and do what I need to do with the responsibilities that I have got now. It's going to be hard on us, but it's something, it's just time."

Q: Coach, what does it mean to have the players behind you like this?

Andrews: Yep. I don't know how anybody could be as fortunate to have a job like I do, with the coaches that I work with, these guys back here. I bust on them a lot of times, and I say things I ought not to say, but they know I love them and just want the best for them.

Q: Have you come close to announcing this before?

Andrews: Well, we thought about it whether it would be best before the season or after the season or whatever. It just got to the point where we just needed to get it out of the way.

Q: Do you plan to have any role in the process of finding a replacement?

Andrews: No, I haven't talked to anybody about that. All I did is say that I won't be back next year. I don't know about any of the other things that go with it. I am going to be here through February 10th. That's the day I started in 1984, 26 years ago. I guess that's a little sentimental about it, but that will be my last day.
