April 27, 2011The five-star constellations floating above Kentucky basketball recruiting in recent years were as bright as ever on Wednesday, with UK's four signees all finishing with five-star status in the final Rivals150 rankings for 2011.
The Wildcats have three signees in the nation's top five, led by No. 2 ranked Anthony Davis, and all four in the top 22.
And the nation's second-highest-ranked undecided prospect, Huntsville, Ala., shooting guard and Kentucky target Trevor Lacey, also received a five-star rating, up from the four stars given in August.
The only other schools with more than one five-star player are North Carolina and Arizona, which have two each - No. 8 James McAdoo and No. 13 P.J. Hairston for UNC, No. 11 Josiah Turner and No. 18 Nick Johnson for Zona.
Davis, a power forward from Chicago, jumped four spots from the August rankings to No. 2 and is ranked only behind Duke signee Austin Rivers.
UK signee Mike Gilchrist, a New Jersey small forward, stayed at the No. 3 spot, and point guard Marquis Teague of Indianapolis fell three spots to No. 5.
Davis, Gilchrist and Teague are all No. 1 in the nation at their positions.
Portland, Ore., power forward Kyle Wiltjer, the fourth UK signee, rose three spots to No. 22. He's the No. 6 power forward.
Lacey, who led his Butler High School team to a state title and proved himself to be one of the nation's best jump-shooters, jumped nine spots to No. 25.
He is considering UK, Kansas and Alabama. He's officially visited the Crimson Tide, and visits to Lawrence and Lexington are expected in the coming weeks.
Lacey is the No. 7 shooting guard in the country.
Potential UK targetJoseph Uchebo, a center who has been released from his letter of intent to North Carolina State and is back on the market, is No. 96 and rated a four=star prospect.
