1st Quarter Breakdown:

Florida State jumped out to a quick 3-0, lead but Clemson responded with scoring drives of 80 and 77 yard to take a 14-3 lead. Clint Trickett responded with a big throw to Rodney Smith to make 14-10 on a 57-yard touchdown pass.

Key Plays:


Tajh Boyd connected with freshman Sammy Watkins for a 24-yard touchdown. On the Tigers' next drive Boyd hit DeAndre Hopkins for a gain of 50 yards to set up a 1-yard TD run. Trickett hit Smith for a 57-yard score to make it a four-point game.

2nd Quarter Breakdown:

Florida State's offense stumbled in the second quarter while its defense dug in. The Seminoles garnered just 21 total yards, 1 first down and held the ball for only 5:05 in the quarter. The defense held Clemson to 78 yards, and a questionable pass interference call allowed the Tigers to punc a touchdown in.

Key Plays:

After QB Clint Trickett's first big mistake of the game, an interception deep in FSU territory, put the Seminoles' defense in a big hole. But Florida State got out of the jam with a stop and a missed field goal from 35 yards out.

3rd Quarter Breakdown:

FSU got off to a fast start in the second half thanks to a defensive touchdown, but penalties denied the Seminoles from taking control of the game. Instead Clemson answered with a score it's on a 1-yard run from Andre Ellington to make it 28-17.

Key Plays:

Bjoern Werner came up with an interception and returned it 25 yards for his first career touchdown. Ellington started the Tigers scoring drive with a 19-yard up the middle.

4th Quarter Breakdown:

Clint Trickett found Rashad Greene for a 30-yard score early in the fourth quarter. The ensuing 2-point conversion attempt failed. Tajh Boyd hit Sammy Watkins for a 62-yard touchdown pass on their first possession of the quarter. The teams traded punts, then Clint Trickett found Kenny Shaw for a 9 yard score to make it 35-30. After a Clemson punt FSU failed to score on their final drive when Clint Trickett was sacked at the FSU 38 yard line.

Key Plays:

Clint Trickett hit Rashad Greene for a 30-yard touchdown pass.
Kenny Shaw, fresh off a concussion sustained last week vs Oklahoma, hauled in a 9-yard touchdown pass from Clint Trickett to make it a 1-possession game.
