Florida State-Clemson tickets in high demand

As expected Saturday's top-10 match-up between No. 4 Florida State and No. 9 Clemson is quickly becoming the hottest ticket in all of college football this weekend.

FSU announced on Wednesday that the game is officially a sell-out, which will likely increase the price of tickets on the secondary market.

Tickets are so hard to come by that the Tallahassee Democrat reports that 20-year old FSU student Christopher Erwin Mertin was arrested on Tuesday for selling counterfeit student-guest tickets on craigslist.

Rivals.com ticket partners Seatgeek.com sent Warchant the following information to illustrate how much the price of tickets for Saturday have climbed on the secondary market.

  • In terms of average ticket price, the Clemson-Florida State game is poised to be one of the most expensive ACC attractions this season. The $103.38 price tag makes the contest over $51 or 99% pricier than the average FSU home game and 355% more than their home opener this year.

  • After the College GameDay crew announced they were coming to Tallahassee for this weekend's matchup between No. 5 Florida State and No. 11 Clemson, ticket prices jumped nearly 10% from the previous 7-day average of $101.50. As it stands, tickets purchased since Saturday have fetched $110.77-the highest 5-day average in the last month.

  • In the past 48 hours alone, we have seen the highest single day averages since tickets first went on sale. Just yesterday, fans paid $118.65 for a chance to see the Seminoles at home against Clemson-69.5% above the ascribed $70 face value, and 30% more than the average ticket sold on September 1.

  • With GameDay's added boost, this contest is now one of the conference's hottest tickets this weekend. With the exception of Florida State's final home game against Florida ($185 average), the game will furthermore be the biggest played at Doak Campbell Stadium this season. Tickets are up $35.58 or 52% since the last time these two teams squared off at FSU in 2010. That year, the average seat went for $67.80 on the secondary ticket market.
