'Noles adding to quarterback depth through walk-ons

First Reported on the Warchant.com Premium Board

Warchant.com first reported that Aaron Lindsey, a first team all-state quarterback from Mayo, was visiting Florida State unofficially on Monday. The 6'3", 200-pound signal caller and his father made the short trip to Tallahassee and met with quarterbacks coach Daryl Dickey and defensive ends coach Jody Allen.

Aaron Lindsey As a result of the meeting Lindsey has decided to enroll at Florida State as a preferred walk-on. That means he will join the football team for two-a-day practices this August but will not be on scholarship. The Gainesville-area offensive player of the year did have the opportunity to play for smaller schools on scholarship but decided against going that route.

"That's not where I wanted to be," Lindsey told Warchant.com. "I want to be at a place where they are going to win championships. I'd like to be a part of that."

Lindsey racked up 2,054 passing yards and 24 touchdowns in his senior season for Lafayette High School. His performance in his final season earned him first team all-state honors and a third place finish in the Mr. Football award for class 1A.

The addition of Lindsey and David Koral, who is already enrolled as a walk-on quarterback, will add quality depth to a position that needs the help.
