Joe Crawford is likely to announce his college choice Monday at his school, his mother Sylvia told the Cincinnati Post last night, ending months of speculation as to where he'll attend school.

Crawford has narrowed his choices to Michigan and Kentucky after reopening his commitment in July, and will make either Tommy Amaker or Tubby Smith a very happy man in the early signing period.

"His goal is to announce a school on Monday," said Mrs. Crawford. "If he made his announcement on Monday, he would sign before Wednesday."

Crawford -- Rivals.com's No. 3 shooting guard and No. 18 player overall from the Class of 2004 -- attended last week's U-M exhibition with Michigan Tech, and has been in Ann Arbor several times since summer. However, he enjoyed his official visit to Kentucky for the team's Midnight Madness, after which he narrowed his list to the fortunate two.

Should the Wolverines land the 6-foot-3, 195-pounder out of Detroit Renaissance, they'll likely cap their 2004 class at two. Romulus (Mich.) wing forward Ronald Coleman, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound wing rated the No. 69 player from the class of 2004 by Rivals.com, signed yesterday after commiting a year and a half ago.

Kentucky, meanwhile, hopes to add Crawford as its third guard from the Class of 2004. Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy point guard Ramel Bradley signed his national letter of intent to attend the Kentucky on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period, while Adam Williams, a 6-foot-4 guard out of St. Albans High School in West Virginia, also signed his letter of intent at a press conference in his school's gymnasium.

Rumors had run rampant that Crawford would make his decision this week, with some speculation that it might even come this morning. That, of course, proved false.

Mrs. Crawford told the Post she is optimistic her son will make the decision that's best for him.

"I'm hopeful," she said. "We've done everything we think we can really do so short of watching a few more games, watching the teams play. His goal is to get it done. I think he has some good information as to where he wants to go."
