TROY, Ala. - Troy Athletics Director Johnny Williams announced on Wednesday that Florida State University has signed an agreement to play a single game against Troy State in 2006.

The Trojans will travel to face the Seminoles, members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, on Sept. 9, 2006, in Tallahassee. The schools are located just 153 miles apart.

"This is a game we have been trying to get for a long time," Williams said. "Geographically, it is an ideal matchup because of Florida State's proximity to Troy. Our relationship with Bobby Bowden helped make this possible, and we look forward to having the opportunity to compete."

The Bowden Quarterback camps have been held on the Troy campus each June since 2000.

Florida State had previously been scheduled to play a two-game series with Texas A&M University, but both parties agreed to terminate the contract citing scheduling conflicts. FSU is still looking for an opponent for the 2005 season.
