June 7, 2006Four-star Texas A&M running back recruit Michael Goodson is all set for his future in the Big 12, Rivals.com has learned.
Goodson, a 2006 signee, is enrolled at Texas A&M in classes, and it appears he has received a passing score on one final test needed for graduation. Goodson took the pass/fail test this past week to complete what was needed for his high school degree. While his test scores were fine for qualification, it appears that the Rivals100 member is ready to go for the Aggies this fall.
Goodson's status with the NCAA Clearinghouse is unknown at this point, but it doesn't appear the heavily recruited Lone Star State running back should have a problem getting through and being able to workout with the team in fall practice.
Now that his high school graduation is in the books, he will be able to remain at Texas A&M, which he could have done anyway, but will avoid taking a summer school class to graduate. This also solves any issue with the Klein (Texas) Collins star having to worry about being in College Station on an interim basis.
Goodson should be competing immediately for the starting position this fall. Along with big back Jorvorskie Lane, the speedy Goodson should fit in well and could be the game breaking runner that the Aggies were hoping for the day he signed his letter-of-intent.
In high school, Goodson put together a junior season that included 1,061 yards and 13 touchdowns for Klein. As a senior, he was slowed by a minor injury, but still put together 973 yards and eight touchdowns. He was rated as the No. 4 running back in the country and the No. 4 overall prospect in the state of Texas.
Goodson originally committed to Oklahoma State but de-committed late in the process and gave the Aggies his commitment in late January.
Goodson also held offers from Southern Cal and Miami.
