Raytown DE Aldon Smith has held offers from Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas State since the spring. He has kept in touch with several others as well, but Smith said he has been quite happy with the three offering schools.
"Things have been good in recruiting," said Smith. "I've just been talking with all my schools recently. Nebraska, Kansas State, and Missouri are the schools I talk with most. They've all offered me, but I'm keeping my options open at this point."
Smith said his summer has been dedicated to keeping himself in shape. Between the weight room and the hardwood, things have been busy for the 6-foot-5 Smith.
"I play a lot of AAU basketball," said Smith. "I'm in our summer league basketball for the school as well. Every morning, we've got lifting for the football team also, so I stay pretty busy, at least, I'm trying to."
Earlier this summer, Smith did attend Missouri's one-day camp at William Jewell in Kansas City. Smith said he enjoyed meeting coaches and watching the activities of the day.
"The only one I've been to has been the camp down at William Jewell at the beginning of June," said Smith. "It was nice. I saw the other guys there and met the coaches. They all asked me how I was doing and what I thought of how they ran things."
While at the combine, Smith got a chance to talk with his friend, Missouri TE commit Andrew Jones. Talking with Jones has been fun, but he has not been the only future Tiger Smith has talked with.
"Andrew and I talk a lot," said Smith. We talk about everything from school to recruiting, to what we're doing that weekend. He's become a really good friend. We went fishing after the KC combine. I also talked with Brad Madison once. It wasn't anything crazy, just asked how everything was going with him. They both want me to commit so we can keep it going, but they know I'm just trying to take my time."
Smith said he talks often with his top three schools and enjoys talking with each. He added that right now, the conversation with each has been fairly similar.
"I talk with coach Cosgrove from Nebraska and coach Lattimore from KSU," said Smith. "They've just been asking if I'm still interested in their school and how the summer is going. I also talk a lot with Andy Hill from Missouri. We text a lot, but I try and call him at least once a week. We're just staying in touch and getting to know each other. He's a good guy and I like talking with him."
Along with his three offers, Smith said he has been in touch with several other schools. While all have been enjoyable to talk to, he added that he believes two more offers may be on the way soon.
"I've talked some with Oklahoma, Iowa State, Iowa, Kansas, and Wisconsin," said Smith. "I know Kansas and Iowa State want to watch my junior film again and they've told me they're probably going to offer. I don't know about the other schools right now."
Smith said he hopes to take a few visits in the next few weeks. He hopes those visits will help separate his top schools.
"I'm going up to Nebraska in August," said Smith. "I haven't visited them yet, so I want to see what they've got and compare it to the others. I'm not exactly sure when, but I'd like to take another unofficial to Missouri if I can."
Smith said he wasn't ready to name favorites this early in recruiting, but did hope that he would soon be able to figure out where every school stands.
"I don't have any favorites right now," said Smith. "It's wide open because I don't know what other offers may come. I just hope I'll be able to sort things out as I'm getting ready for the senior season."
