Practice Update
Florida State practiced for 18 periods inside Doak Campbell Stadium on
Monday night. The team practiced in shorts, jerseys, and black helmets.
Bowden said that they wanted to practice in the black helmets so that
they wouldn't seem so new on Saturday.
Manuel
talks about his first start, looks ahead
Heading into the Wake Forest game, E.J. Manuel was confident he would do
well, but had no idea just how well his performance would be. He
credited his great outing to patience and being able to relax on the
field.
Seminoles keep bowl hopes alive
Florida State's hopes for a bowl game remained intact with a 41-28 win over Wake Forest. In his first start, redshirt freshman E.J. Manuel completed 15 of 20 attempts for 220 yards and a TD. Also, Jermaine Thomas eclipsed the century mark for the third consecutive game. Florida State improves to 5-5 on the season.

Practice Update
The Seminoles completed their final practice in preparation for Wake
Forest in shorts, shirts, and helmets out on the practice field on
Thursday. Louis Givens and Budd Thacker are both listed as
probably for Saturday's game, while Richard Goodman and Dionte Allen are
questionable. Andrew Datko is expected to play.

team started on the practice fields before finishing up inside Doak
Campbell Stadium. Dionte Allen returned to practice with a case on
his hand, and Andrew Datko returned as well and is expected to play on
Saturday against Wake Forest.
Haggins
opens up about Mickey Andrews
FSU defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins opened up about long defensive
coordinator Mickey Andrews, who announced his retirement last week.
Haggins played for Andrews in the 80s, and has coached under him for
more than a decade. Haggins talked about how emotional last week's
announcement was for him.

Practice Update
Florida State practiced out on the band field in the rain in shells on
Tuesday evening. Injured offensive lineman Andrew Datko did not
participate, although he expected to on Wednesday. With today
being Veteran's day, the plan is for the team to practice a little
earlier in the afternoon tomorrow since classes are not in session.
Warchant TV: Manuel talks starting role
Newly minted starting quarterback E.J. Manuel spoke to the media on
Tuesday and was asked a variety of topics. He noted that he did
practice as the starter last week since Christian Ponder was
questionable with his ribs.
Ponder will need surgery, season over
As expected, Seminole quarterback Christian Ponder has been officially
ruled out of the season and will have surgery in a couple weeks to
repair a separated shoulder suffered in Saturday's game against Clemson.
Redshirt freshman E.J. Manuel will take his place in FSU's remaining
three games.

Christian Ponder will
officially miss the Wake Forest game next Saturday. He will undergo
additional tests Monday.
Manuel
thrust into starting role
Now that it's official, E.J. Manuel can begin preparing to be FSU's
starting quarterback on Saturday. The redshirt freshman who has
completed just one pass in his career is confident though, claiming that
Florida State's practices are harder than their games have been.

melts down in second half
he Florida State Seminoles lost their fourth consecutive trip to "Death
Valley" Saturday night, 40-24, to the Clemson Tigers. With the loss, the
Seminoles lost any chance of winning the ACC Atlantic Division

lost for the season?
It appears that FSU quarterback Christian Ponder suffered a separated
shoulder during Saturday night's loss to Clemson. Doctors will
re-evaluate the diagnosis, but if it's true, Ponder could be gone for
the remainder of the season, leaving the Seminoles with redshirt
freshman E.J. Manuel.

the week wore on, his focused changed to getting more reps.

New uniforms - Circus comes to town
Warchant founder Gene Williams doesn't pull any punches when it comes to
his opinion on the new 'special edition' uniforms unveiled on Thursday
that FSU plans to wear for the Maryland game. The uniforms are a
radical change from anything FSU has ever done traditionally with their
uniforms both visually and technologically, but many fans are upset over
them.

Florida State completed their 20-22 practice inside Doak Campbell this
evening in shells. Christian Ponder worked today according to Bowden. He
said that it was very important. Today is the first day that Ponder
worked with the team rather than just individuals.
Christian Ponder named Maxwell Award Semifinalist
On Wednesday, the Maxwell Football Club announced their list of 16
Semifinalists. Florida State's Christian Ponder was among those who made
the cut. Three finalists for each award will be announced on
November 23, 2009 and a second round of voting will take place at that
time.
Mickey
Andrews makes it official
After 26 years, Florida State defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews made
it official on Tuesday, announcing that he would retire at the end of
the 2009 season. Andrews' official retirement date will be
February 10, 2010. A replacement should be named sometime before
then.
Bonus: Making a case for Mickey Andrews
Over the course of defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews' 26 seasons at
Florida State, his unit has produced 46 Associated Press All-Americans
(1st, 2nd, 3rd team and honorable mention). Beginning with the
1985 NFL Draft, 73 of Andrews' defensive players have been selected,
including 18 first-round picks. The plentiful supply of FSU defensive
players selected includes seven drafts with at least five Seminoles
chosen, including the 2006 draft, which produced six (four in the first
round).

Update
Florida State practiced in full pads out on the practice fields for
20-22 periods on Tuesday afternoon. Coach Bowden said that the team had
a pretty good practice today. He talked abundantly about the danger that
C.J. Spiller and Jacoby Ford present not only on offense, but on special
teams as well.
