Scouting Reports

The good: Ross shows playmaking ability whether in coverage or run support. He is a strong athlete who moves well and has shown the ability to play in either man or zone coverage. Though not a physical defender, he will come and support the run well with sure tackling. He combines all the skills necessary to become a quality pro cover man - quick reactions in coverage with the fluid hips to break easily on the ball and make plays. He also shows the toughness and tackling ability to play fairly well in run support with the ability to get off blockers and finish the play. He ranks among the best cover men in this class, despite being the least amount of starts of the top prospects.

The bad: He will be a 25-year-old rookie who is still raw in coverage and experience, and may need a little time to refine his game before being a fulltime starter. He faces a tough learning curve. He has the quickness to play man coverage against NFL caliber talent, though he needs further development in his reads and responsibilities within a scheme.

Outlook: He looks like a top-40 prospect off his strong final season. He has the package to start early in his career, but could disappoint in a situation where he has to play on an island in man coverage. Fine talent that may fall to the early second round. Prospect with the upside to become a good starting corner after some development.
