6'1 218 lbs, id like to reach 195-200. eating a pretty balanced diet 40%/40%/20% carbs/protein/fat at around 350 calorie deficit. ill be using the 5/3/1 program.
started last week with bodyweight circuits at home then maxed on Saturday. I got 335 squat, 315 deadlift, 265 bench, and 165 overhead press. I'm really hoping to add 80-90 lbs on my lowerbody lifts and 40-50 lbs on my upper body lifts in the next 12 months

Down 13 lbs since 1/02 (268 to 255 my 'normal weight for years was 240 though).  My appetite has significantly diminished.  Have not been able to go to the gym yet though.  Need to get back on the treadmill and back with the light lifting.  Goal for the end of the month is to be close to 240...

My fat man pants (40" waist) are getting loose.  Should be able to get back into my 38s by the end of the month.  My shirts are getting more loose too, which feels good...

Not sure about the rest of you all but having this pinned to the top of the board is really helping me stay motivated...

It's tough for me to get a solid cardio workout as I am limited due to knee surgery. I'm doing a juice cleanse this week starting this evening.

Vinegar and water?
1/15 11:57 AM | IP: Logged One time for church we did a fast where for two days all we had was water and a big glass of OJ in the morning and night. The first day wasn't anything special, the second day I felt worse then I've ever felt, had a headache that wouldn't go away and ended up sleeping most of the day. The third day I woke up and never felt better in any one single day in my life. Was really weird.

Love reading all the stories. It's quite inspiring. I've never really been over weight my self. I was as a kid and that always stuck with me as I've always have been active doing something.
I've been doing P90X for the last 4 years and I still enjoy it. The wife and I started it together and I had the single best success in the first month than any other fitness attempt. This was mostly due to the diet without a doubt.
Most have touched on the things to do to eat clean. I've always found it fun to tweek my diet to see how it changes my results. I've always been around 170-175. I'm 6' tall. Went on the diet and dropped my last ten pounds that I've been craving like that. Down to 162 in a heartbeat. Then I started to add muscle back on which was satisfing.
We'll I'm back up over 170 again and started the diet again with a commitment to eat clean. No alcohol, no sodas(never did before), water and smaller portions on my meals. Limiting my starches to 2 servings a day or less.
So far so good. Lost a couple of pounds the first week.

Good luck every body!!!

Thanks.  Been a couple of times where I could have easily caved.  At a party this weekend and somebody make clams casino or something.  Steamed clams with wine sauce and a nice, big, fat loaf of French break for dunking.  Last night the kids made milkshakes.  Had this thread not been pinned I probably would have eaten both.  As it is I haven't and am losing about a pound a day.  Gotta pickup my kid today and have a late doctors appointment Wednesday.  Will get back to the gym on Thursday...

Didn't really want to go before the 15th anyway because it was probably full of fat asses that joined for their New Year's resolution.  They've all probably quit by now...
1/15 2:58 PM | IP: Logged Today is my weigh in day and I'm down 5.8 pounds, for a total of 16 pounds so far this year. Last night I walked over three miles, I'm really trying to push the cardio for the first month or so. Glad I lost a good chunk of weight, but I've got way more to go.

Still not sure how accurate my scale is though, may try to find a doctor's office where I can weigh myself once a month.

Down 3 pounds since Monday of last week. Went off course a bit last weekend with eating and splurging, but back on course now.

Day 10!
1/16 7:08 PM | IP: Logged Worked late and knocked out 3 miles on the treadmill at 6.5

Felt good afterwards and had a helluva sweat going. I just feel like I am missing something. I would love to get a strength routine (mwf, tth legs arms) going but I guess I don't really know where to start. Checking in at 231 right now. Weight loss is slowing down so I feel like I need to change up my routine to get that moving again. A year ago if you told me I would have told me that I didn't feel that 3 miles was enough work out in a day for me, I woulda laughed you out of the buffet line. Keep up the good work all, it's almost mankini season

Rhino look into Body for life, the same program Helmet is doing.

Bill Phillips wrote the book and his cardio is only 20 min X 3 times a week (usually T, Th, Sa). It's best to do in the morning on an empty stomach waiting at least an hour to eat after your done. It's interval training so some minutes are at a very high intensity and some are at a lower intensity. If you think of a level 5 being a brisk walk and level 10 being sprinting as fast as you can the workout goes something like this:

minute 1: Warm up
minute 2: Level 5
minute 3: Level 6
minute 4: Level 7
minute 5: Level 8
minute 6: Level 9
minute 7: Level 6
minute 8: Level 7
minute 9: Level 8
minute 10: Level 9
minute 11: Level 6
minute 12: Level 7
minute 13: Level 8
minute 14 Level 9
minute 15 Level 6
minute 16 Level 7
minute 17 Level 8
minute 18 Level 9
minute 19 Level 10 (This sucks)
minute 20 Cool down

He specifically states that everyone has different fitness levels so our level 10 would be different. Just adjust accordingly. I

If you can't, or don't want to commit to, lifting 5 days a week, consider a weight program where you do total body stuff 3 days a week.

If I made it through dart night (last night) without any smokes or booze you can resist some cookies...  I had a frickin' salad for lunch.

Ok, so about to eat my first solid food meal in 3 days.  So hungry just thinking about it.  Had a protein shake this morning.  Feeling a little light headed but that's mostly due to the fact that I had 3 beers and a few shots last night and just got done with physical therapy.  I've lost 6 pounds in 3 days.  Just got to eat healthy.  Planning two epic meals today...probably a nice sammy for lunch and a giant steak for din din.  started at 193...now at 186 this morning.  Probably, I say six because a pound err on the dehydration that alcohol causes.

Yes, I'm slightly crazy.

Day 17 for me.  1/02 was 268 (an all time high) and was 253 this morning.  Still hard core on the Atkins diet.  No beers, just meat, some leafy greans and water.  Have only had a few vodka and waters and less than a pack of cigs since I start.  Got back in the gym last night for the first time since I started dieting.  Did an hour on the treadmill between 3.2 and 3.8 mph then a half our on core, arms and upper body.  Got my bag packed for tonight as well.  Going to go as much as possible between now and July...

Unfortunately this has been cheat weekend for me ( I didn't have my kids). My girlfriend booked us a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale for my birthday with lots of drinking and eating. Most of my meals were decent although I threw down a nice greasy burger and fries to cap off my 37th. Despite the alcohol, I did manage to get in a really good workout this morning. I was pretty good eating wise but I have had a sweet buzz since Friday afternoon. Anyway, I'll get back on it this week and I will not be taking a cheat day due to the shennigans from this weekend.

I just ran my third Half Marathon on 1/13 and it felt weird not having a long run on Saturday.  I love Half Marathon training time too much I guess.

I am getting ready for my second one next month. I have an 11 mile run next weekend and then they start to taper off some. I just wish it didn't make me so sleepy the rest of the day after a really long run. Any suggestions?

Day 17!!!! Was .4 ounces above my weigh in day last Friday which has been pretty much the routine.  I put back on weight on my cheat day and weigh-in Sunday.  Monday to Wednesday morning I slowly lose weight again and end back up where I was the previous Friday, and then Thursday and Friday morning weigh-ins are weight loss days for the week.

Day 19

Today is weigh-in, week 3 for me.  That being said:

Start - 296
Week 1 - 288
Week 2 - 285
Week 3 - 283

My goal was to lose 47 pounds and get under 250 (6'7).  Not going to happen during this 90 days (didn't expect it to) but I'm thinking I could definitely drop 30 this time around.  I'm going for 2 full cycles, Rome wasn't built in a day, and all this weight I put on was over 3 years, so didn't expect it to magically go away in 90 days.

WHen I do reach target goal hopefully in June at the end of my 2nd 90 day program.  I'm going to go to a modified body for life, and eat healthy Sunday through Friday evening.
1/25 7:53 AM | IP: Logged
So that is 33 pounds in 60-70 days?  I don't see why you can't do that, it's about a half a pound per day average, which is healthy for your weight.

And you're also doing weight training right?  So you could easily lose 30+ pounds of fat in the next 60+ days, but gain 10-15 pounds of muscle.  Weight is definitely important, I'm trying to get down to as low as I can considering where I'm at, but if you're 6'7", I think you could be in the 260 range and look very fit and healthy.

I'm 6'3" and I think I would almost look weird at 260, I haven't been that weight since maybe my freshman year of HS.  When I was in the best shape of my life I weighed in the 275 range, and no one would have thought I was over 240.  Weight is relative, and I think we get a little too hung up on that sometimes.  You're a big dude, and you could be very fit at 260/50.

Down to 215lbs now.

I'm still eating really healthy and lifting weights 4-5X a week.
1/25 10:18 PM | IP: Logged

Actually, the nutrionist will tell you that 2-3 pounds a week is the optimum weight loss for those who plan to keep it off.  The huge weight losses are usually not sustainable...so I'm cool with 3 pounds in week 2 and 2 pounds in week 3.
1/26 12:19 AM | IP: Logged I should be back to light training in about a week, and hitting it hard a week after. No upper body allowed for another 4 weeks. :(
Although I'm not officially part of the fitness challenge, my aim is to add more mass to quads, hams and glutes.
Keep at it everyone and stick to your goals!!
