The 80th percentile (a strong score) nationally is about 600 for each area (i.e., 1200 for two sections; 1800 for all three).

The 90th percentile (an exceptional score) nationally is roughly 660 for each section (i.e., 1320 for two sections; 1980 for all three).

Based on the literature linked in a previous post above, in fall 2011 the median 50% admitted to FSU scored 1760 - 1980, roughly the 75th to 90th percentile of all taking the SAT. Impressive.

Looks like the first two lines are about the entire population of students taking the SAT, not just those that apply or are admitted to FSU.

To get into FSU, you want to be either in that median 50% for both SAT and GPA...but if you are below for one, you better be on the high side for the other.

Good info, Joe and Brick. I don't have anyone I know that will find this useful, but I was curious anyway. Thanks.
