I thought this thread was a pretty interesting read in regards to perceptions about FSU COM. And it pretty well represents what I've heard time and time again. Fair or not...it seems that med school applicants have big concerns about the very limited mission and "different kind of med school" approach at FSU COM. The fact that upstart UCF seems to be the better/safer choice by most of the posters...should be noteworthy. It's obviously just one discussion between a few med school candidates...
If I were going to be a doctor or engineer, I'd pick UCF over FSU

Even with FSU's disadvantages in engineering, I still couldnt recommend UCF over FSU. I'd recommend UF over FSU in engineering, but I don't see any advantage that UCF has over FSU in engineering. Even with FSU being affiliated with FAMU, UCF is just ranked slightly higher. Not a good reason to go there.
Medicine? Is UCF even accredited?

UCF works with a bunch of the engineering companies in the Orlando area so there is some advantage to the student. There is also an employment advantage for the UCF student over the FSU student.
