The upcoming Board of Trustees meeting on January 11th will be an opportunity to learn about a LOT of projects at FSU.
Take a look at the agenda. The board will make a decision about the digital animation program in West Palm Beach and a bunch of new fees for students. They will also hear about plans for the new Dorman/Deviney dorm as well as a bonding issue for a new Student Union.
Kathleen Daly will give a legislative update which should be interesting with the upcoming legislative session. Tom Jennings will also be giving a Fundraising Campaign update. I think FSU will be moving into the public phase of the $1 billion campaign with the start of the new year.
Many times the discussion from the board members is more insightful than the actual presentation.
Check out the rest of the agenda and see if anything piques your interest. You can always watch the meeting as it is going on or watch the saved Webcast. It's usually posted within a few days of the meeting.
Good things on the horizon for University housing. I like the sound of them building a new pair of dorms in the "dust bowl" teachers parking lot and in place of Dorman and Deviney. Now, if the University could gain control of the land the Baptist Ministry is on then they close Woodward (north of Jefferson) permanently.
I don't see anything on the agenda for the new COB building? Any idea how far away we are from breaking ground on that facility?

I watched the webcast earlier this evening. The student union is being renovated. Much needed. I loved one trustee's comment that the SU had been untouched by time or taste.
Civic Center was discussed by Barron. Big changes coming there. Six committees looking at various aspects of making it profitable, renovations, etc. and specifics should be announced at March meeting. Speaking of COB I did hear a comment about maybe putting it by Civic Center property near conference center.
Lots of discussion on WPB digital media program. Some talk of moving it back to Tallahassee but students and industry partners don't want it there. Can't see it being moved to Tallhassee if they won't have any industry partners there with them. They want to be in major metro area it was reported.
