Why were the gates stuck with an inferior team to play? After all, they are legends in their own minds and in espn's mind. They went from assuring us that they would be in the MNC to playing a little ACC team. The horrors of it all, the humiliation of having to play such a team has to be giving them the red-ass. Gosh, Looeyville is so beneath them.

Thanks to the BCS and their stupid AQ rules.  We spent most of the weekend thinking we would be playing Oklahoma.

You do realize that you are ragging on the newest member of FSU's conference, right?

Sometimes we rag on all of them at the same time.

Would be the same as Kentucky or North Carolina went undefeated or close ,....in FOOTBALL. Rivals would have PLENTY of flame matieral to give out. Actually the Cards and NC are high mid tier teams imho. So Gates better not think its gonna be a total cakewalk.

The S.  E.  C.  ........  Texas A&M Will be our NEW KING IN 2013!!

LOL ... unlike FSU, Miami, Pitt, etc., ND knew they could survive as an independent, once conferences began negotiatinig TV contracts, as well as controlling the bowl-selection process, in the late 1980's.

Things have not changed much.  ND still has an exclusive TV contract with NBC, and they still have special rules that get them into BCS bowls, even if they are no better than mediocre (much like the rules that stuck us with teams like FSU, Louisville, Wisky, and Northern Illinois this year).

I see no reason to believe that ND will join a conference in the near future.

If the NCAA moves to a 4 game play off system where four conference champions all play than ND would be forced to join a conference.  I don't see a conference that would allow them to be affiliated to that conference, not have them as a full football member and still give them the right to take that conference's champions place.  Until it moves to that system I also do not think they will join.  There is no point for them unless they are being boxed out of a play off system and Championship Title.

Fellows, it's very seldom you will see a gate say something positive about ND, and vice verse. You need to mark this down and save it.
