The plot thickens. Maybe the CFL would.

Vikes ought to sign him to carry Ponder's jock.

I just put my Teblow out front by the curb. Maybe he can pick himself up for me?

The only thing I took out of that news conference is that new Owner Shad Khan wants to get the hell out of Jacksonville, and Jeff Caldwell is the puppet he's using to facilitate that move.

1/11 3:22 PM | IP: Logged

He should of switched to FB or TE and had a LONG average or better NFL career.
1/11 5:50 PM | IP: Logged

I don't think Khan is big enough to play either of those positions.

Tebow is simply not a good NFL QB. Never was going to be and never will. Since Mr JaxBo decided to show his ugly face here. I am linking an exchange I had around April 30 2010  about how I got banned from GatorBait for saying Tebow will never amount to anything in the NFL.

Its all about delivering or slinging that rock in the NFL!!  I bet NFL learns their lesson on Tbow. Teams will  NEVER pick a BULKED UP Qb that can ONLY RUN and throw to a WIDE open receiver whose Db has fallen down again!!

The NFL didn't want Tebow from the start. I've said this numerous times.

He got drafted and is hyped because he's Tebow not because he can play football in the NFL. He's nothing the NFL is looking for. The NFL is looking for passers. They want Brady, Manning and Luck types. RG3, Wilson and Kapernick are making hedge way but they also won't be long for the league (RG3 is already done). Tebow isn't half the athlete those guys are nor is he half the passer they are. He is bigger and stronger than them but Tebow the NFL QB has no substitute. No franchise is going to risk a multi million dollar operation on building a team that can hide his numerous deficiencies at the position when the odds of him eventually getting hurt and there being no one to replace him are pretty high.

What the Tebow lovers have always failed to see is the NFL is a different brand of football from college football, the CFL or the Arena league. The NFL is a passing league. Tebow just doesn't fit in the NFL because his main skill set is as a read option power runner, he has poor passing skills and has the complete inability to recognize coverages. His best plays are when the play called breaks down and he improvises. That isn't going to fly with know-it-all NFL types. I know Tebow lovers so desperately wanted him to succeed but the truth is he is not a NFL football player and almost every GM knew it.

He also is not going to succeed at RB, FB, HB, or TE in the NFL. His running style, slow approach to the line of scrimmage and from the line of scrimmage make him useless at those positions. Couple that with his inability to read defenses and he would have a long way to go in blitz pickup.

His best bet is the CFL. There has to be a franchise willing to let him run around and play sandlot football up there and have some mild success.

Thanks.

To expand upon the original point ... Khan is not even big enough to play Owner in the NFL ... he snuck through, before the NFL got around to redacting the Georgia Frontiere Exclusion.

I like Khan just fine it has been the Jaguars front office since day 1 and Gene Smith who have destroyed what little I could have cared for the franchise.

The Jags had always screwed over their season ticket holders until the Jags could no longer produce a winning product. The whole 2-3 year contract, the essential black mail to renew with a contract extension or else and just ishy customer service really drove the fan base to tell them to get bent.

Then there's Gene Smith doing everything he can to draft players from non BCS conference schools. At one point I think they out numbered the BCS schools players. There are always diamonds in the rough but Smith thought he was the smartest man in the room and he was an epic failure at not just GM but life in general. The franchise refused to go get any big name players like Chad Johnson or Terrell Owens. Even in their twilight years those kind of players would have brought some excitement to the franchise and a little more conversation on the NFL shows than a 30 second mention.

Then there's the two ultimate sins they will never recover from. Everyone knows I am no gater fan but the Jags screwed the pooch twice in their franchise history. The first was when Shiny Pants was looking to get out of Gunsville and the second was Tebow's draft. Although I do not believe either was ever going to be successful in the NFL the hiring of Spurs and/or the drafting of Tebow would have energized the fan base whether you were pro-Spurs/Tebow or not. It would have been instant fodder for NFL talk shows and the city and franchise would have benefitted greatly from it.

It's almost as if since the day the city was awarded the franchise they've done everything they can to become the NFL's equivalent of the Chicago Cubs except without the history and fan support.

I've bitched about that for several years.

This is from a recent Gene Frenette column:

Here's a nugget from the Gene Smith reign as GM that should change going forward:

From 2009-12, the Jaguars were the only NFL team that didn't draft a player from the Southeastern Conference. Under former boss Tom Coughlin (1995-2002), the Jaguars took 13 SEC players, including five first-rounders.

The 12 playoff teams have a combined 122 SEC players on their rosters, compared to the Jaguars' two (Jeremy Mincey, Richard Murphy). ...

I would be curious to see how the remaining playoff teams -
Ravens
Niners
Patriots
Falcons

stack up per conference.

Agree with almost everything said here.  Jags are a joke franchise.  They belong in L.A.

Firing Coughlin was the probably the first and certainly the biggest true mistake the franchise has made.

I sometimes wonder how much success they could have enjoyed by now, if they had kept him in charge for all these years.

you don't want no turd QB.  i'm a chicago bears fan and we make it to the superbowl and that turd Rex Grossman flushes it away.

i think those teams have good GMs who can evaulate talent and what conference a kid played in is secondary.  The Falcons for example have one or two guys who played for NIU; QB played for Boston College of all places.  Hall of Fame TE from Cal, RB from NIU, top receiver from UAB.  Falcons even had a pro bowl CB from a school called Shippensberg, although he got injured early in the season (Brent Grimes). its a huge grab bag.

Coughlin was a solid coach but a horrible fit for the city, personality wise. This is escpecially true considering this was all new to Jacksonville. The fans wanted access. They wanted flare and excitement. Tom Coughlin brought none of that.

The point of bringing in Shiny Pants and Tebow has more to do with bringing the franchise in line with what the fans of the team/city want. They don't have to have a winner, just someone to root for.
1/15 3:07 PM | IP: Logged

The local press likes talking about Tebow even more than the national press does.  He is a home-grown hero, and the most famous person this town has ever produced.  He and his family are members of the largest church congregation in the City, which also happens to be second largest congregation in the country, behind the SLC Morman Tabernacle.

I'm not saying that Tebow would become a great NFL QB, if given the chance, but the Jags used a much-higher first-round draft pick to get Blaine Gabbert, and then they picked up Chad Henne on the free-agent market.  How could Tebow (or anybody else) make the Jags' QB situation any worse?

LT why do the jets care about Jax QB situation?
1/17 12:10 PM | IP: Logged
no one cares about the jax qb situation.

tebow made the jets worse, hence he is unemployed. its hard to fail as a backup QB without ever getting off the bench but gosh darn it he found a way.

A player who does not play made them worse, heck i blame the loss to the cards on the kids that redshirted then.

If a poster says that Tim Tebow is currently unemployed, or if they say Tebow somehow made the Jets worse, or if they say Tebow will return to "Gainesville", or anything else incredibly stupid like that, I see no reason to contradict them.   There is no rule that forbids idiots from posting on message boards.

Ant, you were on vacation too long, if you had been off another month you wouldn't be able to spell your own name. Even in Arky wonmore is two words and names are normally capitalized... unless they are gators.

Means what i said, he has more playoffs wins. Percy, and Peterson and can't win a playoff game. He has 2 more years at best unless he gets better fast.

Are you purposely being ignorant? He did not play in the playoff game due to injury. Percy? Does he even play for the team anymore? Seems like he is always hurt, so I would not be quick to count him as an offensive weapon.

Regarding Tebow, he is jut not a good pro QB. The jaguars do not want to take a chance on him because they would then be a slave to the media and fans to keep playing him. That kind of attention and pressure I do not think most NFL teams want to touch. Jets found out the hard way. Take away the circus that would come with him and he might get a shot on a roster.
1/23 12:08 PM | IP: Logged
FOCUSSED MORE. Yeah he might have won a NC if he was just focussed. Put his stats up with any QB FSU has ever had, he had a great college career. You are reaching big time. He has started as an NFL QB in case you miss that, oh and won his first playoff game.

Mark Sanchez was also a starting NFL QB and some say he might he one of the worst in the game.

Tebow couldn't beat him out, nor could he beat out a 4th string newbie.

Conclusion: TEBOW SUCKS AT QB

Percey played in most games last year. I think most people know he is a weapon, if you don't see it, you're the only one who does not. Look up his stats before being hurt. Let Tim get a season then we will see if he can play, he has shown he can win, what is more important looking good or winning?

8-4 starting last year, plus a win in the playoffs in his first year getting playing time. He will get another chance, if not he leaves with a winning record as a starter.

Problem is Tebow looks terrible in practice. Tebow looks terrible in games. The Broncos were 8-4 inspite of Tebow. Why would you give someone who sucks the reins to your team? Even his own teammates from Denver and NY are saying he is nothing more than some circus sideshow freak exhibit that is a distraction to the team and brings nothing to the table as a player.

Percy has a very hard time staying healthy. Some of the most important games at the end of the season he did not even play in. Peterson is a HUGE weapon and one of the main reasons Minnesota went to the playoffs. However, as we were shown when Ponder was not playing how less effective Peterson was. Greenbay was able to concentrate solely on Peterson and what a world of difference that made.

I am really not sure if Tebow will get another chance. Now I am not saying he should not get another chance, just not sure if I see it happening. What team do you think right now takes a chance on him? What team do you think wants that circus? The Jets brought him there for the circus and even they could not wait until the circus left town. So who do you think is going to jump at that opportunity?
