Stay in house or go get someone? Coley did not call plays anyway, so should not change much for FSU. Can't help recruiting, as you have lost 4-5 coaches this year? Go after Louisville OC.

i hear Aubrey Boyd is looking for work.

I'm trying to be serious, as can't go on any other board, who will take, over do you think.

It so close to NSD, it is not going to matter much this year. Next year FSU will need to do work there but it's not like there isn't a slew of coaches that can recruit on the staff.

My guess is Sanders gets the reins. And I thnk that means play calling and everything. He at a minimum is getting the QB's I bet. For the great recruiting effort Coley did, I never saw a development in the position he coached and that was with some of the best talent FSU has had at the position. I am thankful he never got his hands on Jameis (although Jimbo is heavy handed there). In the end, FSU will be fine. The system in place could use some tweaking.

D-ronanole what was Coley job. Thought Jimbo called the plays and worked with the QB's. Is'nt QB Jimbo job, that is what was said when Ponder was playing well, how good Jimbo was as an QB coach. To lose 6 coaches has to hurt for at least a year. Heck we lost 2 one year and FSU fans said it was over for us.

K. Bell would be a good OC, for FSU. He does know Football. Someone will take a chance on him(Not FSU).

Do you see any recruit maybe backing out from coming. He was your best recruter I hope, since you say he did nothing else.
Sanders from where?/(Tenn)

EJ I thought had some all time records at FSU, and Ponder was the 12 th pick i think, someone did okay with the QB's.

Can't wait to see how FSU plays next year.

To lose that many coaches hurts, yes. It is a rebuilding/transition year anyways so that isn't going to be that big of an issue. This years class will be fine. FSU got their classes the last two years, this one was expected to be small and fill needs. All of that is done should the commits stick and anything else is gravy.

I will argue that Coley was not our best recruiter. As a matter of fact I think Gran was more valuable to the SoFl recruiting efforts and Craig was more valuable in general. Coley was solid but Pruitt has a better reputation than him already. Recruitng SoFl from here on out will be where FSU has to put in work. Other than that it will be fine.

Coley had been promoted to QB coach. Yes Jimbo has a heavy hand in them but look who he had handling the QB position - a former QB of his, not Coley. Coley was in charge of the TE which he hasn't exactly turned O'leary into an All American.

FSU will be fine next year. 8-4ish, same as UF. Both programs lose more on the defensive side than they want to admit to and both lose players on offense that they can't easily replace.

i understand Gruden is holding out for the Miami HC job,so he is not likely to be offered by FSU.

D we will not lose more than 2 games next year.

Oline - better-We lose Nixon and Wilson who were hurt half the time. We picked up Moore and Garcia two ex starters who will both play next year. Hump and Green will be an upgrade at OT. Brown 6'6 360 could help(JC). Plus 3 starters back.
Went from C to B-.

WR- Better as Dunbar was coming on, and Debose even caught a few passes at the end. Freshman can play WR first year and Robinson, Fullwood, Hawkins, Bailey will be a big help, plus 2nd year in system.

RB- Jones looked great last 3 games over 8ypc against FSU, plus will be 235. Brown has to stay healthy. Taylor will play he's the real deal.

QB- Driscoll- second year in system, just needs to let the ball go, he will be fine. Back up No Idea

DB- Top 5 at worst- Hargraves is the best Freshman CB i have seen since Haden, and Jenkins, in fact better at this stage.

Add Roberson, Riggs, Purifoy(if he does not move to wr) Poole is very good

safety- Loaded (young)- Maye, Gorman, Ledbetter, Harris, Neal, Washington, plus we could move a CB.

DE- Might be the best set we have had for a few years. Fowler, Bullard, Powell will be special.
DT- Easley, Orr, Jacobs, Cummings.
LB- not sure we lost all 3 starters. Morrison is going to be an All SEC lb by Jr year. Ball 2nd year back, Taylor not bad, Kitchen will need a freshman to help, and we signed some good ones.

I see 10-2 for Fla. If QB works out maybe 11-1. Said 10-2 last year.

We will beat FSU at home this year.

UF loses 50% of its run production and 60% of its receiving production off of a 100th ranked offense. Driskol should improve slightly but he still loses his best receiver and unlike this year, you can not count on losing your top RB and expect to be fine running the ball, regardless of the OL situation.

UF loses its best DT in Floyd, and another contributor at the position. You lose your middle LB Bostic (the others are replaceable) and the two safeties. Defense is played from the inside out, so UF is fighting a major uphill battle losing the middle of its defense entirely. The safeties are the biggest loss. They allowed the DB to play tight coverage and take risks. You saw what happened to them when an accurate QB played them. They were toast. Losing Elam and Evans will really hurt. I don't care what you have back there to replace them. Safety play is an art and those two guys had it down. It completely changed the way you could play defense.

Safety play and strong play from the DT and MLB (completely unforeseen from previous years but the physical maturity transition really helped them) coupled with a very high positive TO ratio made UF's season. If UF returns to an above average TO ratio of +8 (much less be in the negative) then you'll see the season slip away. The statistical anomaly of being +18 something in TO two years in a row won't happen. Losing the middle of the D simply won't produce it coupled with Driskol needing to pass more eventually. UF is 8-4ish and most certainly can lose to FSU at home. You caught a ton of breaks this year, congrats. I doubt it happens two years in a row.

Billy Napier more than likely or Sanders. It doesn't matter because we will have the same boring offense that we had last year because the head coach insists on calling the plays. For some strange reason he has convinced himself that he is good at it..

We will feel the loss of Craig a hell of a lot more than we do Coley. He should have been retained at all cost. Coley not so much. Contrary to popular belief we will still get ours out of South Florida, it's just that um will get more and better one's.
We have historically recruited will in South Florida, why should that change? D-Ron is right on the money, we will miss Craig and Gran more than any of the departed coaches.

Florida State will do fine. If you look at the overall coaching staff now, it is better than we had and they were good. The general consensus among FSU fans is that all but Hudson will be missed, but they have been replaced very effectively. The hurt is in the short term. We will lose Kirkland and M Thomas in this class and that is a big ouchy. After the signing day is over, the effect of Coley leaving is history. It's a terrible blow as we speak, but nothing that FSU can't overcome down the road.

FSU is like fu and um, they are who they are and they will always get good players and coaches
\
BTW..the days of the read and react defense that Stoops put on the field is over. Coach Pruett is bringing in a completely different philosphy...attack and then attack some more. Nole Nation is very happy about that. We have the personell to do it and we can't wait..

D- true on most, but you said our oline was going to be terrible last year, and they were good when Healthy. You lost all 3 DT, williams at LB, Rhodes at CB, 3 DE yet don't you think you will be good on D.

Orr has a chance to be as good as Floyd was. Easley going inside will help. Morrison, Powell, Cox can play MLB.

Hargraves makes our CB better next year. Maye and Poole, Ledbetter, Gorman can play safety. Evans sucked till this year, so players do improve. Elam is the lost I'm worried about the most. the rest we will be better than last year.

Oline will be very good, as will RB's, Driscoll should be better, and WR can not be any worse. 10-2 at worst for Fla, then 2014 watch out.
1/25 11:40 AM | IP: Logged
Lol int, UF's OL wasn't great by any stretch of the means. They ranked 50th in yards per attempt rushing and 115th in sacks allowed. The only thing that OL did was not turn the ball over which isn't their job in the first place. They were average and simply created enough push to chew clock and punt with that All American punter you have thus flipping the field. Time will tell if they develop into a real OL.
1/25 2:08 PM | IP: Logged
Said good, never said great. How did we run for 200 yards against what you call a great Dline(fsu) if the oline was that bad, explain that to me. We ran over LSU when Healthy. the Sacks were on the QB 80% of the time for holding on to the ball.

So we could control the ball on the ground but the Oline sucked???? When 2 or more starters were out they were.
Moore is a Stud coming in started for NEB as a true Freshman, he will be better than Nixon at OT. Garcia will be better than Wilson at OG. Plus Hump is a future AA at end of Junior year. Green will be drafted at OT when he leaves. Harrison will be a top 3 center as I told you last year....

Can't wait to show how wrong you are about the Oline and RB. We heard the same when Demps and Rainey left.

10-2 i say. You say 8-4 we will see.

Ant, you pea-picking nitwit. You jump around with your predictions so much you can't keep up with them. Yes, you said 10-2, when the season was almost over, but throughout most of the year, you were saying 9-3. That's pretty close so I'll still give you props for it. This is the first prediction you said.

"Still think we can get to the 9 wins I predicted, see losses to LSU, FSU and 1 to either Geo, or SC."

Later, you did go to 10-2. Then back to 9-3, back and forth.

I will say though, you do good job with your predictions.

I guess you missed the 5 TO FSU had, int. TO's give the receiving team more plays, more opportunities and in most cases valuable field position allowing the offense to run more of the playbook.

You can't say if it wasn't for that last turnover against UGA (in which you were still losing) then you would have won and not acknowledge the fact that up until FSU's last turnover they were winning the game in spite of -3 turnover margin.

We haven't had a good offensive coordinator in decades.  Richt had great athletes, and underperformed, Jeff Bowden was the worst OC in America, and Jimbo is a conservative underachiever.  We've had enormous offensive potential for years, but never have had an offensive genius use all of our weapons effectively.  Our OL has never been able to run block on third and short, the only QB we've had with pocket presence since Cholly was McPherson, and the only topnotch TE we've had was Brandon Warren for one season.

When Fisher got to FSU, every one said the Offense would take off, you were right, it's gone.
1/28 6:12 AM | IP: Logged
Lol int and you said Pease was going to produce a top 40 offense. He can barely crack the top 100 with a defense giving him the ball +1.5 times per game in TO margin.
