SAF is losing the plot.

Fergie wants Fryers investigation

January 4, 2013

Sir Alex Ferguson has urged the football authorities to investigate
Tottenham Hotspur's signing of former Manchester United defender Zeki
Fryers from Standard Liege.

Fryers, 20, left Old Trafford last July after failing to agree a new
contract with the Red Devils, and he ultimately joined Standard Liege.

This week, though, it was announced by Tottenham that the club had "reached agreement with Standard Liege for the signing of Fryers".

Ferguson has expressed his disappointment at the signing after United missed out on receiving a fee for the defender.

Speaking to MUTV, the United boss said: "To me, I think it's a blatant manipulation of the rules.

"Tottenham did nothing wrong as he went to Standard Liege. They tried to
buy him off us and we'd been looking for a certain figure. They
wouldn't pay it but asked if they could take him down there on trial
and, at that time, he was out of contract in June anyway.

"So he went down on trial and he went to Portugal with them. They then
said they weren't prepared to pay the money and, all of a sudden, he
signed for Standard Liege.

"We knew immediately and suspected that he would return to Tottenham in
January and that's happened. It's a [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy deal.
You know, it's his fingerprints all over it. It's the kind of thing we
expected he was going to do."

I thought that a 3 match touch line ban is appropiate. How many games was Allan Pardow and his staff banned for, for circling around the 4th official? How many games did Tevez get for a blatant kick on Phil Jones (ooops, not even a call because Tevez was already on a yellow). How many games has Mancini been banned for? He is just as bad as SAF for his in-game tongue lashing of the refs, and especially his rants about the refs during postgame press conferences.

For every call United gets, they get one against them.....(the Young goal that was taken away against City, the missed PK against City, the offsides goal yesterday). There was a no call at the 18 yard line on a Newcastle hand ball. I have seen several players get a yellow and then get away with a hard tackle because they already have been booked (see Tevez).

Wenger should be banned just for the fact that he wears the most God awful, ugly trench coat.

You mean this one?

I'm an Arsenal fan but that is one ugly look. Looks like something out of a sci fi film.

So the big Liverpool vs Man U game is coming this weekend. The biggest game of the year for me. Of course Webb is the ref for this and we all know what happened the last time Webb was the ref at Old Trafford in this game. Side note, rumors everywhere that it's between us and them for Kevin Strootman for the summer, top player.

I'm a little worried of this match Sunday. You guys have been playing pretty well lately and we seem due for a let down. Hope I'm wrong and we stomp you guys good and proper at home... but we'll see!

What is going to happen first? Vidic gets tossed or Suarez dives?

Did you guys see that City returned 912 out of 3,000 tix for the away match at Arse because City fans don't want to pay ?62 a ticket at the Emirates.

Arse fans will be glad to buy them back. Sounds like the Gators and the Sugar Bowl.

Suarez dives in the first 5 mins. Easy money ;)

awfully quiet in here from the SAF and United haters after this weekend

i really thought Arsenal would top, or at least draw Citeh... hard luck with the early red card. ugh.

Well we didn't really come out with any intent in the 1st half, but were unlucky to not tie it in the 2nd.
1/15 4:27 PM | IP: Logged

We need Sturridge and Borini to get match fit and sharp for 90 minutes. Second goal came off Vidic and he was offside.

What's with the mancs crying about a linesman not giving a pk when Rooney clearly dived? Are they suprised that they followed the rule book and didn't give them the game?

Agreed, but Hazard will get the automatic 3 game ban and I would think that the FA will tack on a couple of more games.

What about Bradford City and the Swans making it to the League Cup final?

The winner gets a bid to play in the 2014 Europa (if there still is a Europa).

What a steal Michu has turned out to be! Pleased to Michu. hope you guess my name.

Also, I found this story on the front page of Soccernets Carling Cup (now Capital One Cup). How the hell did this end up there, it's a little old.

Arse, it's sink or swim with them, when they score, it comes in bunches.

Meh, the kid said on Twitter than he was planning to do this. He didn't even get kicked, Hazard got the ball. I wish Hazard would have got that little punk in the ribs.

Hazard deserved the red and whatever suspension he gets, but I'm glad he did it.

Does the kid get a ban now? I know his father is on the Swansea board, but I think the FA is going to pressure the club to ban him. You don't want to set a precedent that ball-boys can interfere with a game with no repercussions.

He tweeted that this was going to be his final appearance. He is 17, perhaps age limit. They should have sent Torres for the ball, he would have missed him.

Eric Cantona wouldn't have missed, the kid would be in the hospital where he deserves to be.

I'm really glad that people are realizing that the kid was a punk and deserved it. I've been a Chelsea fan since RDM was playing, but it's been frustrating to constantly be in the spotlight for negative things. When I saw this happen live, my first thought was that it would explode like the JT situation. I was preparing myself for the comments when I go watch the game this weekend at my soccer bar.

Luckily, the overwhelming consensus has been that Hazard deserved his red, but the kid deserved a kick (in fact, most people seem to have wanted Eden to have kicked him harder). I know a lot of people hate Chelsea, I'm just glad the hatred of the team isn't stronger than a desire for fair, honest play.

Because the kid is a wum and nobody likes play acting in this sport and that is why most Americans hate the sport. We have players who get a normal tackle and act like they have just been shot by a sniper and the ball boy did the same. I'm just happy it wasn't Suarez because he probably would have been arrested, suspended for the season, and run out of England by the media.

A couple of weeks ago, I watched Giggs dribble through 3 or 4 players and get hacked about 6-7 times and he never lost his balance, and then players like Nani get farted on and they roll over in agony. It pisses me off too that players act like this, and it's one of the first things that Americans ridicule when they talk about Euro football. Nani has been better that past couple of years after constant screaming from SAF, I watched one game where Nani tried pulling off his antics and you could read SAF's lips "get up, get up...enough is enough".

We get NESN up here and off course the Red Sox own Liverpool, so the Liverpool game is always replayed during the week. My Vice President can't stand soccer, but he watched the last 20 minutes of the MUFC/Liverpool game last week thinking that it was live, but anyway, one of the things that he came away with was that the Suarez guy was a pretty decent player. Suarez is often a victim his own reputation and the British press has a low tolerance for hispanic players that flop and dive and twist and turn in agony at every chance they get (Suarez, Nani, Ronaldo......) and they press clearly detests the Spanish teams and especially the Spanish national team. Argentina is another team that the UK press loves to hate.

As for Bowsher, there are teams that I dislike, and Chelsea being one of them, but I can try to be objective and that punk kid deserved a beating. Don't get me wrong, it was fun watching Chelsea and City crash out of the CL, but I will root for the BPL teams in Euro competitions. I rooted for Chelsea last year to beat Bayern and I have even rooted for Liverpool in Euro play, however, I don't ever think I could root for City unless it would help MUCF in league play. Liverpool is United's biggest rival, but I can't stomach rooting for City, period.

1/24 5:43 PM | IP: Logged

It's worse than diving because it ruins the flow the game. Some World Cup games in recent memory were horrible to see because of the constant start stopping putting the ball out of play. And this is coming from a die hard fan let alone somebody who doesn't like the sport or is casual. It's a safety risk as well. Like the boy who cried wolf. If you are not hurt then don't stay on the ground.

I agree. The guys at work just can't get into the game, and their main ridicule is players being carried off on a stretcher and then sprinting back on to the field 90 seconds later. I wish we would see more cards and suspensions for diving.

Hey, did we just agree?

I see United might have a deal in place for Zaha, who will be loaned back to Crystal Palace for the year. I think this might be the end for Welbeck, and possibly the beginning of a Rooney exit while he still has considerable value, especially if RVP can stay healty. If Kagawa can stay healthy, he can play that drop back role that Rooney has played with success this year.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Nani in St. Petersburg soon (as I type this a quick search has Nani leaving, possibly to Arsenal). I also see that Ashley Young will be out another 4 weeks (and miss the Real matches), so Nani could be moved in the summer, and Rooney was again limping in practice yesterday.

Good Lord, Manch, say it ain't so!
1/24 6:48 PM | IP: Logged

Hey Ed, I think that Nani has some of the best untapped talent in the BPL, his head just isn't tuned in. He has flashes of greatness, then he goes AWOL for a couple of games. If he can figure out when to pass and when to be selfish, and he stops falling all over the pitch, he could be great.

I think with his speed and passing, he would be decent at the Emirates.

Rooney isn't going anywhere. Zaha is a direct replacement for Nani who will be gone in the summer. Arsenal can't afford his wages and wouldn't be interested in him anyway. Welback is still young and the perfect 3rd or 4th choice striker to have. Between Cup games and rotation for non big league games he's good. What they do for goalkeeping and midfield will be interesting. The summer buys of De Gea, Jones, and Young is not looking too good. Jones is highly over-rated, injury prone and dosen't really have a postion.
1/24 8:00 PM | IP: Logged

De Gea is rumored to be gone. Another Pique who will go to Spain and thrive. His back 4 have left him hung out to dry, but he's also made mistakes that the should not be making. Young is another that shows promise and then can't be found for a few games and he's always hurt. I like Jones and I wish they would settle him in somewhere, but again, he's another who's injury prone. If they settle him in at CB, Vidic can mentor him and Jones is still young. It took Evans a while to finally settle down and become a consistent defender. I was hoping that Smalling and Jones could spell Rio and Vidic.

I played for 20+ years and never pulled a muscle. I can't understand why the same players keep getting hurt over and over. I also don't get how players like Nani, Young, Jones and even Valencia play so great one game and then no show over a spell of 2-3 games. With RVP and Rooney in the middle, the wingers should be feasting. Christ, even Evra is taking advantage of the lack of marking, Evans too.

United has Rooney, RVP, Hernandez and Welbeck up front. That's 4 solid forwards, much like they did in 1999. I think Welbeck might be the odd man out, not having a left foot drives me nuts when he'll try to go around a defender rather than shooting or crossing because the defender forced him to his left foot. Kagawa, if he stays healthy, could rack up the assists if he accepts that drop back role.

The Nani to Arsenal is just the first rumor that I read. I like Nani, but his head is just not in the game at times. Ronaldo back to MUFC is another laugher of a rumor, but Rooney would be out, IMO, if that were to ever happen.

Happy 26th to Mr. Suarez.
