So says Tim Brown

Link: link1/22 11:12 AM | IP: Logged
Heard that on Mike & Mike this morning, but they brought Zack Crockett on right afterward and he had a different opinion.

Seems like Tim was a little loose with his gums. Saying a coach sabotaged his own team so his friend (Gruden) could win is an awfully strong accusation.

Tim has had more than a few axes to grind lately it seems

Those are serious claims, and it seems petty to me for Brown to say that with absolutely no proof that Callahan threw the game. He could say that it was an awful game plan and baffling, but it seems he has no real proof Callahan would throw the game( other than dislike of the Raiders). My personal opinion is that Calllahan is just a bad coach and he failed that day.

Just a bad coach. Didn't change anything from Gruden' s offense. Tampa's D knew every formation and play that was coming.

Supposedly it all stemmed from his center that wigged out before the game so he decided to scrap alot of stuff.  Makes sense if you center is the one calling the line protections and then he was not available.

Robbins, who was a first-team all-pro and Pro Bowler that season, missed the game after disappearing two days prior to kickoff, going on a drunken binge in Tijuana according to some teammates (Super Bowl XXXVII was staged in San Diego, near the Mexican border).

true or not, gamblers should always remember that there is no game that can't be compromised.

I'm sorry but this is pure garbage..... Tim Brown is a fool.
1/22 11:43 AM | IP: Logged As a Raider fan I can say none of this is news. No clue if true but It was always a suspicious game from Raiders play calling perspective with such a disparity between line size. it was like someone else stepped in to call plays for the day.

Really if Callahan changed game plan before Robbins disappeared is the real story here. If not it will still go down as the worst game plans we've ever seen in a Super Bowl which makes sense if game plan was changed two days before kickoff. Keep in mind that was a record setting Raiders offense of 6,200 yards, with pro bowlers on oline, MVP Gannon and Tim Brown and Jerry Rice, solid runners Garner and Wheatley, Crockett blocking. Gruden put them together but had no hand in those records that season as they tweaked the offense a bit to be more downfield throws and more pass first.
Well never really know what happened that week I guess.

They claim that the change of the game plan is what set Robbins off on his bender - could not control his anxiety around not having enough time / practice to get the line calls down in two days so he took off !!!!

So who was Callahan trying to help when he sabotaged Nebraska?
