Preseason magazine review - Sporting News
In our first two preseason magazine reviews we took a close look at Athlon's and Lindy's ACC Edition and gave our recommendations. In our third review, the target is Sporting News "SEC-ACC" preview magazine.

When it comes to putting together a slick looking publication nobody beats The Sporting News. From cover to cover the 2007 preview magazine looks great with sharp photos, eye-catching graphics and interesting lists. They also do a great job minimizing the number of ads (only 11 pages) which gives you more bang for your buck. Problem is if you are an FSU fan, or any fan of an ACC team, you will probably feel like you are getting ripped off, or at least short changed.
For the second straight year Sporting News did not come out with an ACC edition. That's baffling considering they have individual editions for the SEC, Big 10, Pac-10, Big 12 and even the Big East. But they do have what purports to be an SEC-ACC edition, at least it says "SEC - ACC" on the top of the cover. However, after taking a closer look at the magazine it appears to be false advertising. There is absolutely no extra coverage given to the ACC than any other conference. The same two (and sometimes one) page previews it provides for each team in the ACC is the same it gives for the Big 10, Big East, Pac-10, Conference USA, etc. In fact, the version I purchased has a bonus 16-page look at the SEC, all on glossy paper, which is in addition to the regular SEC team previews (no such glossy section for the ACC).
