Tide in top 5 for WR

After a busy spring in which he received dozens of scholarship offers from around the country, Kenny Shaw has seen things settle down for him this summer. But that doesn't mean the Orlando (FL) Dr. Phillips wide receiver isn't one of the hottest names in the South, with nearly every major Southern power trying to land the three-star prospect's signature.

"It's been a little slow the last month or so. I would say the last big thing that happened for me was the Georgia offer, which was really big for me," Shaw said. "I wouldn't call them my favorites yet but definitely shook things up."

While the 6-foot, 160-pound Shaw has continued to train this summer, most of his major summer activities lie ahead of him as his July schedule is loaded with camps and events.

"I went to the USF camp earlier this month and that was a pretty good experience. I'm going to the Florida State Showtime camp later this month and I was going to go to Florida's Friday Night Lights camp but my team ended up getting an invitation to the ESPN Champion Gridiron Kings 7-on-7, which is the same weekend. I've got a pretty busy month ahead but it should be exciting."

Shaw said he isn't anywhere near making his final decision yet but he does have a tentative top five, which includes the Crimson Tide.

"It's still pretty early for me but my top five right now is Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama."

"Alabama made a really good impression on me when their assistants came down to Orlando to watch me. I watched Alabama play last year and I know they aren't afraid to play freshmen, which is a plus for me."

Among the most important factors in making a decision, according to Shaw, will be the nature of the offense each school runs.

"It's obviously a receiver's dream to play in an offense that passes more than it runs and that's important to me. I'm not going to count how many runs and how many passes but it's important that the school I choose passes the ball a good amount."

"I know I'm going to make a West Coast trip at some point to go see UCLA and Stanford but other than that I don't have any visits set yet. I will probably make those decisions when it gets closer to the season."

As a junior, Shaw hauled in 64 receptions for 914 yards and 10 touchdowns.
