Stew says slow go for Mountaineers' JB

Bill Stewart said Monday that starting quarterback Jarrett Brown did not practice on Sunday and was doubtful for Saturday's visit from Connecticut on homecoming. Kickoff is set for noon on ESPNU.

"Our quarterback is dinged up. He is day to day. He didn't practice in helmets and vests. And that's like sweats. He didn't practice. So that tells you he probably won't be ready. Scooter Berry was leg whipped against Marshall. He didn't do anything yesterday," Stewart said on his Big East teleconference segment.

Brown suffered a blow to the head when he ran head first into the helmets of two Marshall defenders in the 24-7 Coal Bowl blitz. Back-up freshman Eugene Smith replaced him and went most of the way until Coley White took the final snaps of the game.
