Alabama cornerback to check out Rebels, Tigers

Gadsden (Gadsden City), Ala., cornerback Dale Trimble tried to end his recruiting recently.

However, when the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder with 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash attempted to give his verbal commitment to Tennessee, the Volunteers' coaches said they needed to evaluate him further.

Trimble said he hasn't talked to the Tennessee staff in the past two weeks, so he's back on the recruiting trail.

The three-star cornerback will be at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn Saturday to see the Tigers entertain No. 24 Ole Miss in an SEC West game ripe with bowl ramifications. Both schools, along with Clemson, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Kentucky, have offered.

"Ole Miss has told me, if I want to, I can commit," Trimble said. "They're recruiting me real strong. Auburn is coming around, then they'll back down."

Trimble said Tennessee still leads for his services.

"I really think Tennessee will come around," Trimble said. "They're writing letters to my mom and me. If they (make a committable offer), I'm going to commit."

Trimble said he plans to take an official visit to Kentucky in early December. Trimble, who has 50 tackles, two interceptions and 10 pass break-ups entering tonight's game versus Fort Payne, just took the ACT last week. He has a 2.8 core grade-point average.
