2011 Recruiting Spotlight: Defensive Line

For USC, defensive tackles and defensive ends are often recruited with two completely different approaches.

While tall, athletic defensive ends seem to grow on trees in California, big, powerful, agile defensive tackles take a plane ticket to evaluate in person. The class of 2011 may break yet another trend.

At the top of the list is Sacramento (Calif.) Grant junior defensive tackle, Viliami Moala. Physical, aggressive and deceptively quick, Moala comes from the same football program that produced USC junior defensive tackle Christian Tupou. Ironically, Tupou was a late December target for USC, and offered a scholarship after an impressive week of practice at the Offense-Defense Bowl.
