DTs give Jackets a glimpse of the future

While future Georgia Tech teammates Denzel McCoy and Shawn Green did not have the outcome they hoped for in their Offense-Defense Bowl, the two defensive tackles grew closer and gave fans a glimpse of the Jackets future. Green and McCoy played side-by-side and according to both players they work well together.

"It went really well and we played well together," Green said. "Other than the game and the extremely cold temperatures it was a good week. It was really cool and we got a glimpse of the next four years and a chance to hang out which was cool."

McCoy echoed Green's thoughts and said the pair matched up well together.

"Green is a little better a taking on the double teams where as I am a little quicker getting into the backfield. I think we play well off of each other. He is a little more physical than I am right now."

Green was impressed with McCoy's technique.

"Denzel uses his hands really well and that impressed me. I think we have two different styles that fit well together," he said.

For Green playing one more game as a high school player took some of the sting out of his playoff loss to Newnan.

"It was good to have a couple of games after that Newnan game," he said. "I got to play in the Gwinnett All-Star game and then this game. It gave me a look at the future and going against the high level of talented showed me what I need to work on before I get to Tech."

McCoy's high school career has also drawn to a close with his performance in the Offense-Defense bowl and he is focused on getting ready to help the Jackets immediately when he arrives in June.

"I am up to 272 and gaining weight again. The season wore me down physically, but I am focused and working with my trainer to get ready for Tech. I know Shawn and I need to be ready to play when we get there."
