Daingerfield LB gaining tons of attention

Prospects in the East Texas town of Daingerfield, Texas (population 2,517) may not get as much as recognition as do their brethren in the larger metropolitan areas that make up the bulk of the state's population. However, Dangerfield has won five state titles in its history including back-to-back titles in 2008 and 2009 with an array of athletes that rivals that of any of the bigger schools in the region or even the state.

The most intriguging is linebacker Steve Edmond, a 6-foot-3, 225-pound destroyer who has started as an underclassmen on those two teams. He posted an astounding 20 tackles for loss as a sophomore and followed that up with 182 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, five interceptions and five sacks last season.

Now he's emerged as one of the state's top linebacker prospects in a 2010 linebacker class that is one of the deepest in recent memory, and he already has multiple offers from Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech. He attended a junior day at Arkansas last weekend and his Saturdays in February are booked with visits to Texas on Feb. 13, Oklahoma State on Feb. 19, Oklahoma on Feb. 20 and Texas A&M on Feb. 27. He's also thinking that another offer is on the way.
