Peake has a different visit

Roebuck, S.C. receiver Charone Peake has been to Georgia a number of times before.

But there was something just a little bit different about Saturday's trip to Junior Day that stood out compared to some of his other recent trips.

"Well, it was the best time that I've been up there," Peake said in a telephone interview with UGASports. "I spent a lot of time with the coaches, but there wasn't as much 'recruiting talk' as there usually is. I got to spend more time with the coaches than I usually do."

Peake was apparently a centerpiece of their collective attention.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder said he talked extensively with assistant John Lilly - his main recruiter - along, with assistants Mike Bobo, Rodney Garner and Tony Ball, the Bulldogs' wide receiver coach.

"I think it's a great staff," Peake said of Georgia's offensive coaches. "They're very balanced. What they do works very well."

Peake also sat down with head coach Mark Richt, who talked over several subjects with the soft-spoken receiver.

"Coach Richt showed me the depth chart at wide receiver, their depth for next year (2011) and he let me know where I would be if I came here," Peake said. "He told me I would get the ball whether A.J. (Green) is here or not. I'd definitely have a good chance to play as a freshman."

Peake, who watched the Georgia basketball team's win over Florida, plans on coming back to Athens soon.

The Bulldogs have another Junior Day planned for March 20 and Peake said he's tentatively planning to come before he starts making official visits in the fall.

"Everybody told me how bad they wanted me and how low with the depth at receiver there," said Peake, who still has Clemson and Florida high atop his list of prospective schools. "I'm just taking my time; trying to get to know everyone as best I can before making my decision."

Peake said he probably won't make his final choice until after his official visits are complete
