Arizona OL looking at Tide

Winning the BCS National Championship has made the Alabama Crimson Tide a national name when it comes to recruiting and the Tide are showing their national recruiting presence by extending offers to players from all over the country, including recently sending an offer out to Arizona offensive lineman Cyrus Hobbi. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound tackle from Scottsdale has nearly a dozen offers to date, including two more last week from Tennessee and Oregon State, but so far Hobbi said he's keeping his options open.

"I really don't have any leaders right now but in general I like a lot of the West Coast teams because they'd be close to home," said Hobbi. "I definitely like Alabama but I feel like I need to learn more about what the campus is like and how the program is run and things like that."

The Crimson Tide made a strong impression early with Hobbi through developing his relationship with the Tide coaching staff.

"Coach Pendry told me he's watched my film and that he and Coach Saban both like me a lot. They said they would love to have me and that they want to meet me in person as soon as they can."

"I'm planning to go visit Alabama over the summer some time and maybe check out a few other Southeastern schools while I'm over there. I know it's a great school and it's already one of my favorites that has offered so far but I don't really know anything about life in that part of the country."

A two-way player at Saguaro High School, Hobbi said he has only one preference when it comes to choosing an offense to play in at the next level: physicality.

"Obviously, a lot of schools these days like to throw it around more but I love run blocking. To me the best part about playing O-line is getting to run and hit a guy. I don't have any preference towards one style of offense. I want to play somewhere that has a tough attitude and gives me a chance to shine."

Hobbi expects the recruiting process for him to extend through the fall with a decision likely coming no sooner than December.

"Before the season starts this fall I plan on having my list down to about five schools and then shortly after the season I will have my decision ready. If I get invited to an all-star game I might make the announcement there but it's definitely a decision I will have made by the time the season is over."
