Bulldogs hold final full speed practice

Mississippi State held one final full speed tune up before Saturday's spring game.

The Bulldogs concluded their two and a half hour practice with a live scrimmage leaving head coach Dan Mullen pleased with the day's work.

"I was pleased with the effort today," Mullen said. "It was a good practice. We wanted to scrimmage here in the second half of practice. I think we mixed up a lot of different combinations and let a lot of different guys get reps so we can see what they are doing here at the end of spring. I was pretty pleased with what happened."

One player that got plenty of carries during the afternoon's session is redshirt freshman running back Montrell Conner. Conner missed several practices with a minor knee injury but looked to be back in game for on Thursday. But there is one aspect that Mullen would like to see more of from the 'Choo-Choo'.

"I want him to run the ball harder," Mullen said of Conner. "He's still soft and dances around sometimes. When you are a big 235-pound guy, you drop your pads and go hit it. He's missed a little bit of spring and we wanted to give him a little extra work today because he's missed out on a couple carries the last couple of weeks."

The offensive line returns four starters from a year ago. Mullen and his staff have spent time this spring trying to develop some depth in the trenches by inserting some of the underclassmen in with the starting group.
