Prater closes in on decision

For the Oregon Ducks, summer has proven to be a time to gather commitments for the Class of 2011. After three signal-callers pledged to Chip Kelly in the last month, the classes' third offensive lineman could be the next to make the call.

Etiwanda, California standout Jamal Prater spoke with Duck Sports Authority about the state of his recruitment.

"Oregon came during spring ball to watch me practice and then after awhile the offer came. I think it was seeing me in person and watching more film of me that did it," said Prater.

The 6-foot-4, 290 pound athlete is taking his Oregon offer seriously, scheduling a visit to Eugene in the very near future.

"I'm going to be visiting in the middle of this month (July)," Prater said. "My family and I are going to drive up here together. It's about twelve hours. I'll wear my headphones, listen to music."

Projected as an offensive tackle or guard at the college level, Prater would likely start out at guard should he choose the Ducks. He met his potential new position coach during his junior season.

"I just met Coach Greatwood this year. He seems like a good guy, a pretty straightforward guy."
