Speedy ATH draws Tide interest

Memphis (TN) East star Brian Kimbrow established himself as one of the fastest players in Tennessee this summer with impressive performances at camps around the South, including a standout showing in Tuscaloosa where he consistently clocked a sub-4.4 forty time. Kimbrow's blazing speed has made him a multi-purpose star for Memphis East and has earned him attention and offers from multiple schools, including Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

"We're doing OK so far," Kimbrow said of his 1-1 Memphis East squad. "I am trying to take a lot of responsibility on myself for how the team does since I have so many opportunities to contribute. I play running back, kick returner, punt returner and corner."

While the 5-foot-10, 165-pound speedster is a standout playmaker at several positions, he likely projects on the offensive side of the ball at the college level.

"Most coaches tell me they would like to see me on offense. They like what I can do with the ball in my hands so I think most schools see me as a running back, receiver or and also as a return specialist too."

Among the schools that have yet to offer but are showing plenty of interest is defending national champion Alabama.

"I'm really happy with all the offers I've gotten so far. Alabama is talking to me a lot right now and I think they are pretty close to offering me. They want to see me in action a little bit this season first. I'm still really just learning about everybody right now and trying to be patient and see how things develop. I will definitely wait until after my senior season is over before I make a decision because I want to take all my official visits first."

Football and school are occupying the bulk of Kimbrow's schedule at the moment but he believes he will have an opportunity to visit at least a few college games this fall.

"I'm going to try to make it to some games this fall but I'm not in a place where I can start planning any trips yet. I am just totally focused on the season and school right now but once things get settled in, I will start looking at trying to make it to some games."
