Ready to Roar, Part 15: Michael Coley

Nothing says 'welcome to college football' like the coach forgetting your name. Especially when it's not even like there's someone else on the Cal football team that has a similar moniker. But for the easy-going Michael Coley, it's all a part of going from a recruit with offers from schools like Michigan, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh, to a redshirt freshman.

"The nickname that I got here, right now, is Coach (Clancy) Pendergast calls me 'Boley,' instead of Coley," he grins. "I think that's the worst one, by far. I think that's the worst one. In high school, they called me 'Mic Check,' and I wouldn't say that's the best one, but I was cool with that one.

"Just one day in the meetings, he was looking and said, 'Boley? Coley? Boley?' And from then on, it was 'Boley.' He always messes with me with it. But at least he knows it now."
