Aaron Murray joked that he and Brandon Boykin had a plan during Monday's "draft" to select the players for Saturday's G-Day game at Sanford Stadium.
"Boykin and I absolutely dominated the draft. It was a good draft. We're quite pleased with our team," Murray deadpanned, noting that opposing team captain Ben Jones accused him of "cheating."
Jones picked the Red team along with linebacker Christian Robinson.
"Cheated?" Murray asked. "He's been talking smack that he's got the better team. We'll see what happens comes Saturday."
Kickoff Saturday is 1 p.m. and admission is free, although fans are asked to bring a food item for the Northeast Georgia Food Bank or a donation to the fund benefiting Georgia baseball player Johnathan Taylor.
Murray said he and Boykin took safety Shawn Williams with their first pick.
"He's the only healthy safety we have, so we thought that would be a good move," Murray said.
Jones said he stayed true to his cohorts on the offensive line by taking Cordy Glenn.
"I told my boy Cordy I was going to get him first; I got him first," Jones said. "I'm going to stick with my boys, but he (Murray) slipped in there and got my right guard."
Other players joining Murray and Boykin on the Black Team include Orson Charles, Marlon Brown, Kwame Geathers and Richard Samuel. Caleb King, Cornelius Washington and Abry Jones are among those joining Jones and Robinson on the Red squad.
Boykin said he and Murray also had the best "value pick" of the draft, walk-on wide receiver Taylor Bradberry.
"He's got good hands, similar to A.J. Green, he's just not as fast," Boykin cracked. "But he always makes plays on G-Day."
Boykin would not, however, reveal the Black Team's "Mr. Irrelevant" to signify the last person taken in the Monday's player draft.
"I'm not going to say, there were some people just going each and every way," Boykin said. "But we had a couple of "Mr. Irrelevants."
