As soon as Urban Meyer took the head coaching position at Ohio State last week, one of the big priorities was finding some offensive tackles in the 2012 class. One of the prospects that Meyer immediately turned his attention towards was Cleveland Heights (Ohio) product Kyle Dodson. On Wednesday night, Dodson confirmed the rumors that he may take an official visit to Ohio State this upcoming weekend.
"Yes, I'll be visiting Ohio State this weekend," Dodson said.
The 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive tackle is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and is one of the top offensive tackles in the nation. Dodson is committed to Wisconsin and says his visit to Columbus is to compare the two schools before he signs is Letter of Intent.
"I just want to make sure that Wisconsin is the place I want to be at," he said. "I just want to make sure and I want to check out Ohio State and compare the two programs."
Initially, Wisconsin had beat Ohio State to the punch on offering Dodson and many feel that hurt them in his recruitment. With the staff shake-up at Ohio State, that has allowed the Buckeyes to re-enter the picture. Dodson said he has talked with Meyer multiple times since he was hired last Monday.
"I've just spoke with him a couple of times after he got hired," Dodson said.
Dodson added that he is unsure if he will take any other official visits at this time.
"I'm not sure if I'll visit anywhere else yet."
Dodson is the No. 174 ranked player in the nation and will participate in the US Army All-American Bowl in January.
