CLEVELAND - Sometimes you do get a second chance in recruiting and Ohio State made the most of it with offensive tackle prospect Kyle Dodson as Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes secured the letter of intent from the 6-foot-6, 315 pounder during a signing day press conference at his high school.

The four star lineman initially committed to the Wisconsin Badgers a day after the old Ohio State coaching staff extended him an offer but Meyer and the Buckeyes were not going to take no for an answer and with heavy coaching turnover at Wisconsin the door was open for the Buckeyes to walk through.

Dodson had set a final four schools of Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and USC going into the final week of recruiting. The Buckeyes were able to get the last impression in with Dodson as he made the trip to Columbus to check out the Ohio State vs. Michigan basketball game and was hosted by current lineman Jack Mewhort around the campus.

Offensive line depth was a major concern with the departure of three starting linemen to graduation but Meyer and the Buckeyes were able to add to a class of two previous line commitments with three additional ones with Dodson, Joey O'Connor and Taylor Decker.

The Rivals250 member fills an immediate need for depth at the offensive tackle position and should compete with Decker for immediate consideration to the two-deep on the outside of the line. Dodson will need some time before he enrolls to recoup from surgery on his shoulder to repair an lingering injury but should be full go by the time that he checks in at Ohio State for the start of the summer quarter.

Kyle Dodson checks in as the No. 9 player in the state of Ohio according to the BuckeyeGrove.com rankings and is the No. 178 player nationally according to RIvals.com. He was also selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl but was held out of competition because of the aforementioned shoulder injury.

We will have video of the press conference coming up later this afternoon and more reaction from Dodson after his selection of the Buckeyes.
