Day 10 Scrimmage Report

The Beavers took to the Reser Stadium turf for the second consecutive practice as they held their first scrimmage of the 2012 season in front of roughly 150 of Beaver Nation's finest. Numerous players were out for various reasons; Terron Ward, Anthony Watkins, Caleb Smith, Chris Miller, Rueben Robinson and Steven Christian were held out for injury reasons while Jordan Poyer, Rashaad Reynolds and Markus Wheaton were held out as a precaution.

Special teams and individual drills and skelly session went on as normal before the teams broke into offense and defense and butted heads. It's been noticeable that the level of physicality has risen at the corner position. While some guys could certainly be called for holding at times, they're fighting and clawing to win every battle.

The booming voice of Coach Cavanaugh was full of praise in the early goings. It's often tough to differentiate the screams of Cav, but he was clearly praising a few of his lineman for their good work in the inside run portion of practice.

POSITION FOCUS: Quarterback + Running Back

The starters for the first team offense and defense were all as expected, and Jordan Jenkins was the first running back to line up behind Sean Mannion, Malcolm Agnew was #2 and received about the same amount of carries.

Jenkins found it tough to get to the second level, amassing just nine yards on five carries. The defensive front seven did a good job of plugging up the middle of the line. Jenkins was found two times in the passing game for 12 yards proving that he's one of OSU's best options out of the backfield as a receiver. Jenkins is a very patient runner, but sometimes fails to hit the hole quick enough.
