Scrimmage #2 Report

Former Beavers Keaton Kristick and Joe Halahuni were roaming the sideline today to witness OSU's 2nd scrimmage of the fall. Black and white shirts exchanged blows and Coach Riley would later comment that, "There were a lot of penalties."

Again players were held out for precautionary reasons; Markus Wheaton only returned punts in a non-live portion of the scrimmage. Jordan Poyer and Rashaad Reynolds sat out again. Injured players Derek Nielson and Micah Hatfield were also sidelined.

SCRIMMAGE OVERVIEW: OFFENSE

With Poyer and Reynolds out the Beaver secondary again started off slow. Early on Sean Mannion found his receivers with relative ease, namely Richard Mullaney who caught two balls in the first few plays for 41 yards, finding space in the zone. Mullaney continues to be consistent in his ability to make plays and be reliable. He's got a sneaky athleticism to him and seems to have "it."

Capping the first drive from 13 yards out, which was a good balance of run/pass; Storm Woods took a handoff off center and burst through to the 2nd level before being touched. Woods then got behind his pads and carried Zimmerman into the end zone the final two yards for the score. Just as Malcolm Agnew looked like he would be the #1, Woods is making it seem more likely that a tandem will make up the OSU backfield.
