ISU coach calls Tulsa a 'scary' game

Tulsa football plays its season opener this weekend in Ames, Iowa. On Monday, Iowa State Head Coach Paul Rhoads discussed the Golden Hurricane and explained how his Cyclones are preparing for the game.

"As we came back to work yesterday (Sunday) and going into Tuesday, there's a heightened focus when you're preparing for your first opponent, and we do that blessed with great health," said Rhoads. "We'll need that health from everyone against a favored Tulsa football team in this opener -- a team that knows how to win, and quite honestly expects to win when they take the field, and a team that plays with phenomenal effort.

"The number one thing that comes out of our coaches' mouths when you talk about this opponent is how hard this opponent plays. That's a great tribute to them and their staff."
