Jackson State preview

After a season that did not live up to the expectations of many, Mississippi State returns to the gridiron today to kickoff 2012.

The Bulldogs have enjoyed back-to-back bowl games Dan Mullen and go back to where it all began with their fourth year head coach. Mullen made his MSU debut against Jackson State in 2009 and will take on the Tigers once again at 6 p.m.

That meeting four years ago marked the first time a Southeastern Conference program has faced a SWAC opponent.

The Bulldogs claimed a 45-7 victory that day with 31 second half points and piling up 410 yards of offense and five takeaways on defense. Chad Bumphis caught a pair of touchdowns and Corey Broomfield brought back a 45-yard interception in their first career games in Starkville.
