NOTEBOOK: Tackling remains AU's priority
AUBURN -- Brian VanGorder's first game as the Auburn defensive coordinator didn't go as planned, but he's not worried about long-term ramifications.
The Tigers conceded 320 rushing yards in the 26-19 loss to Clemson last weekend. VanGorder said after the game and again Tuesday that problems associated with tackling were to blame.
Relatively speaking, he's not as worried about that.
"If we had guys who were out of line, misplaced in the chess game, then I'd really feel ugly about it in terms of our preparation and what we're doing," he said. "We had guys in position, but it was just missed opportunities."
Three missed tackles in particular made a big difference last weekend.
