Notebook: Tech hopes to end streak

These are not the lines to the opening of a college football broadcast.

Saturday's game between Texas Tech and Iowa State will have long lasting consequences.

The Red Raiders were once a Big 12 Conference power capable of beating any other team. Through three games they look like they could be back on their way back to the level of respect the team got in the late 2000s.

But Iowa State head coach Paul Rhodes has quietly built a program capable of challenging anyone in the Big 12 as well. The Cyclones took their first step when they ruined Oklahoma State's National Championship hopes last season and they have not gotten any worse since that point in time.
