Sooners Wasting No Time with Evitt

As one of the Big 12 region's most electric juniors it would seem likely that Wagoner's Lawrence Evitt would be fielding interest from all of the country for quite some time. However, according to the Bulldogs coaching staff that attention is just starting to roll in. The good news for Sooners fans is that the coach leading the charge is Oklahoma assistant Cale Gundy[db/].

While leading that charge Gundy invited the 5-foot-7, 165-pound Evitt for last weekend's big Notre Dame game. With that invitation Evitt made his first trip to Norman and for the Sooners long-time running backs coach came away a bit surprised with the size of the all-purpose back from Northeast Oklahoma.

"After the game he came and talked to me and said he was excited to see me in person and I was a little bigger than he thought, he went and talked to coach Condict, told me I could come to any game I want - I was kind of excited about that," Evitt recalled.

"He said that he is going to stay in touch but he had to go, we had to hurry up and talk but that he'd be staying in touch with me."

Evitt, who is very new to the recruiting process, said the chance to see the spectacle that Oklahoma-Notre Dame became was only part of his enjoyment. Another aspect was something that he requested before he ever set foot on campus.
