Egg Bowl preview

It's that time of year again, time for Mississippi State to either put up or shut up.

The Bulldogs and head coach Dan Mullen have been boisterous in proclaiming their three consecutive Egg Bowl wins over instate rival Ole Miss. MSU will have an opportunity to make it four tonight at 6 p.m. in Oxford.

Mullen has never lost to the Rebels (or the school up north as he refers to them) going 3-0 since arriving in Starkville in 2009. The Bulldogs have outscored Ole Miss 103-53 during their current win streak which is their longest since 1939-42.

The Golden Egg Trophy, which is claimed each year by the game's victorious team, has been in State's possession for 1,091 consecutive days.

Ole Miss leads the overall series 60-42-6 and also in Oxford 21-11-3. The Bulldogs will be going for back-to-back wins at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the first time since claiming three straight victories there from 1994-98.
