Spring Grades: OL
Newly named offensive line coach James Patton went into spring football practices expecting depth issues. But more importantly, Patton had to work to find enough capable players to fill key roles in a revamped front line. With Davin Joseph, Chris Chester, Kelvin Chaisson and Chris Bush all leaving the program, the Sooners needed to fill those spots with capable players.
But could Patton make capable players out of young players such as Branndon Braxton and Duke Robinson? Could a JUCO transfer such as Sherrone Moore come in and fill a spot along the offensive line? It's no secret the offensive line is one of the biggest concerns heading into the 2006 season. The beginning of the 2005 season showed what an unprepared offensive line can mean to a football team.
OVERALL GRADE: B
Grading this offensive line was difficult. The grade doesn't mean the Sooners will play at that level next season. It simply means Patton did a very good job piecing together an offensive line during the spring.
