Preseason rankings disagree about 2006 Seminoles

As the final whistle sounded in the Orange Bowl last January, most Florida State fans were left scratching their heads trying to figure out how to categorize the 2005 season.


Bobby Bowden's Seminoles started out like gangbusters jumping out of the gates with a 5-0 start, which included quality wins over Miami and Boston College, and secured a top five national ranking.


Then the bottom fell out.


The 'Noles would go on to lose four of their last six regular season games and for a time dropped out of the national rankings altogether. Then the 'Jekyll and Hyde' team did a 180 and FSU pulled off a very improbable upset victory over the No. 5 ranked Virginia Tech Hokies in the ACC Championship game.
