Rutgers Summer Camp Preview
Success brings attention, and that attention is bringing an influx of talented players to the Rutgers Summer Camp from June 25-28. With upwards of 1,000 players attending at least a portion of the camp this year, ScarletNation.com has been able to identify some of the top players who will make a stop at Rutgers.
The deepest position at this year's camp seems to be at offensive line, with a number of players attending that already hold D1 offers. Heading up the group is OT Desmond Stapleton of Union, who at 6-foot-6 and 320-pounds, is also one of the largest participants. The brother of current Scarlet Knight, Darnell Stapleton, he already holds offers from Rutgers, Virginia, and Marshall. Other top tackles in attendance will be Anthony Grosso of Matawan, who holds offers from Duke, Vanderbilt, and Cincinnati, Sean Berry of Irvington, who holds offers from Syracuse, South Florida, and New Mexico State, Ethan Thies of Washington Township, and John Fontana of Saddle Brook. One of the top out-of-state offensive tackles will be John Fieger of Upper Perkiomen in Pennsylvania, who recently picked up an offer from Pittsburgh at their summer camp.
Leading the charge at the offensive guard position will be Markeece Preston of Paterson Catholic, who at 6-foot-1 and 345-pounds, currently holds offers from Maryland, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. Other top guards hoping to impressive the Rutgers coaches include Dan Donker of Eastern and Paul Brazinski of Ridge. One center of note is Thomas Weaver of Irvington, who already holds offers from Kansas State, Connecticut, and New Mexico State. As a side note, there is a chance that four-star offensive tackle John Elliott will make an appearance at the camp.
