Piurowski wants to start
When Florida State takes the field against Miami on September 4th in the Orange Bowl there will be several new starters for the Seminoles. No matter who lines up tight end, it will be somebody that has never seen the field before in a college game. That's because the top three players on the depth chart from last season -- Donnie Carter, Matt Henshaw and Matt Root -- have all used up their eligibility.
The only tight end on the roster at the conclusion of last season was 2005 signee Charlie Graham. The former Madison County standout redshirted and will enter the 2006 season as a freshman. With such a lack of depth, the Seminoles signed two tight ends on national signing day last February. One of the two signees, five-star tight end Brandon Warren, is still working on his academics in hopes of getting qualified later this summer. In the meantime, Graham and Caz Piurowski are the only tight ends currently on the roster.
Whether Warren joins the team in time for August two-a-day practices, the battle for the starting job at tight end should be wide open.
