Nationís No. 1 all-purpose back has some surprises

When it comes to the recruiting process, the No. 1 rated all purpose back in the nation, Armando Allen out of Hialeah, Fla., Miami Lakes has been steady as a rock. He has rarely strayed from his original intent to remain open to all possibilities until after his football season is complete and he takes his five official visits. However, he now is willing to talk about a couple of programs that he is interested in and a couple who are out of the running altogether.


On the evening before the first day of fall practice, the normally reserved Allen couldn't help but let his excitement shine through.


"I've been waiting on this, to be able to put recruiting off to the side and concentrate on my senior season. I'm going to enjoy this the best I can and start worrying about recruiting and where I'll go to college after my last season of high school football."


Of course, since practice hasn't officially started yet, he had time for a quick recruiting update.


While many of the top players in the nation have either committed or are declaring their on again, off again love affair for certain programs on a daily basis, Allen has taken a different approach.
